It is expected that the long wait of the vast population of the country for 5G (5G) network will be over soon. Because recently it has been known that Airtel is going to launch 5G service in this month i.e. August. On the other hand, Jio has announced the launch of 5G on the 'Amrita Mohotsav' of Independence. As a result, it is very clear that it will not take much time for the 'rocket' speed network service to come to the people of the country! But how much money to spend to enjoy high-speed internet speed is now on the mind of almost everyone. In that case, the country's third largest telecom company Vodafone Idea (Vodafone Idea) or Vi (VI) has given some important information in this regard to remove the curiosity of users.
5G will be more expensive than 4G
Last Thursday, Ravinder Thakkar, Managing Director and CEO of Vodafone Idea highlighted several important issues related to 5G network prices and spectrum. He said that customers will have to spend more than 4G if they want to use the next generation network. However, he also confirmed the fact that users will get many times more pleasure than 4G by using 5G service even if it comes at a premium price.
5G services will be expensive due to the high cost of buying spectrum
Thakkar mentioned several other reasons behind the higher cost of 5G network compared to 4G apart from better service quality. He said that the company had to spend a lot of money to buy 5G spectrum, due to which the 5G service will come at a premium price. Not only this, he also indicated that the prices of all existing tariff plans will increase by the end of this year. Incidentally, Vodafone Idea has purchased 3300 MHz (mid band) spectrum for 17 cities and 26 GHz band spectrum for 16 circles at a total cost of Rs 18,800 crore. Apart from this, VI has acquired several 4G spectrums in Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka and Punjab. However, the company will have to pay an installment of Tk 1,680 crore every year for the new spectrum.
4G plan prices may increase further
As mentioned earlier, Ravindra Thakkar said that the price of all tariff plans will increase by the end of this year, which has left the users in a big worry. Because by the end of last year all the telecom companies have increased the prices of their recharge plans by 20%-25%, creating a deep fold on the forehead of the middle class. Needless to say, the recent tariff hikes hint at deepening that fold. Incidentally, till now the telecom companies have not increased the price of any plan in that way. As a result Mr. Based on Thakkar's words, it is believed that the price of 4G tariff will increase only when the 5G plan is launched.
